How much does Google Ads
cost in 2026?

There are two separate costs and most quotes blur them. Here is each one, and why the management model matters more than the fee.

Google Ads costs two separate things. The ad budget goes directly to Google — realistically 5,000–30,000 NOK per month for a smaller Nordic company, and far more at scale. Agency management is charged either as a flat fee of 3,000–20,000 NOK per month or as 10–20 percent of your ad spend. A one-off account build runs 10,000–20,000 NOK. Our management fee is flat, from 12,900 NOK a month, and we never take a percentage of spend.

The two costs are not the same thing

The single most common confusion in a Google Ads quote is treating budget and management as one number. The budget is media spend and goes to Google. The management fee buys the work of structuring the account, choosing the terms, writing the ads, and stopping the money going to searches that never convert. Ask any agency to separate the two in writing before you sign.

Why the percentage model is a problem

Charging 10–20 percent of spend is the industry default, and it means the agency's revenue rises when your budget rises, whether or not the return does. It also makes the recommendation to spend less — sometimes the correct one — cost the agency money. A flat fee removes that conflict entirely.

  • At 20,000 NOK a month spend, a 15 percent fee is 3,000 NOK.
  • At 100,000 NOK a month, the same fee is 15,000 NOK for work that has not grown fivefold.
  • The agency is paid more for spending more, not for earning more.

What budget you actually need

Below roughly 5,000 NOK a month, the campaign gathers too few conversions for the bidding to optimise, and results stay noisy no matter who manages it. Between 5,000 and 10,000 NOK a month is a workable start for a single market and a narrow set of terms. Broad campaigns across several markets need considerably more before the data becomes reliable.

What good management looks like

Conversion tracking verified against real orders rather than trusted blindly. Search terms reviewed and negatives added continuously. Budget paced against contribution margin rather than spend. And a willingness to tell you when a channel is not working — which is the part a percentage fee quietly discourages.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does Google Ads management cost?

Either a flat fee of 3,000–20,000 NOK a month, or 10–20 percent of ad spend. We charge flat, from 12,900 NOK a month, so the fee does not rise with your budget.

What is a realistic Google Ads budget to start with?

5,000–10,000 NOK a month for one market. Below about 5,000 NOK the algorithms do not get enough conversion data to optimise and results stay unreliable.

Is Google Ads worth it for a small business?

It depends almost entirely on your margin per sale and how specific your buyers' searches are. High-value, high-intent categories pay back quickly; low-margin products in broad categories often do not. That is a calculation worth doing before spending anything.

How fast does Google Ads work?

Traffic arrives the day you switch it on, which is its main advantage over SEO. Reliable optimisation takes four to eight weeks, because the bidding needs enough conversions to learn from.
